WHAT'S THE HOLD UP ?
When will these devices be available ?
Things are happening, don't hesitate to give me a call or email for more information. I ANSWER ALL EMAILS, so please check your junk mail folder if you believe you are not getting a response from me. Thanks; Jeff Audia
The part pictured above is machined BY HAND on a manual mill. The Tactical Cartesian Display is an augmentation to an ordinary DRO. The system gives a real-time graphical representation of the cutter movements with respect to the CAD geometry of the part. The machinist can maintain unheard-of tolerances of part geometry without even knowing what the dimensions are. See the various Case Studies that show some examples of parts being machined. This system is suitable for 0ne-off parts, prototypes, short production runs and cases where you cannot take a CNC off line to produce one or a few parts.

This module IS the Cartesian Display minus the keypad, enclosure and mounting hardware. Save money ! You can craft your own enclosure and Front Panel by using a platform such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi, PC or even another 4D Systems touch screen display. Your Front Panel platform communicates with the Cartesian Display serially and can command the display or mimic the keypad to operate the display's menus and functions.
This module is the brains of the Rotary Table Controller, all the other components are off-the-shelf. We use parts from Automation Technologies, Inc. Save money ! Build your own controller with OTS parts in conjunction with our Controller Core Module. The Controller Core manages things like converting angles to pulses, backlash control, feedrate, acceleration, deceleration, indexing, etc.
The Tactical Cartesian Display and Electronic Rotary Table are still under development although they are in use in this shop making parts for customers. Please contact us with any questions.
Check this website periodically, when you see more components and pricing, that's when it's for sale. It could be a couple months from now or sooner for special cases. Don't hesitate to call or write.

The Cartesian Display allows the machinist to view CAD geometry and move the cutter with respect to that geometry. The DXF model is stored in the Display so that it has an exact mathematical model of the part allowing the machinist to position the cutter precisely and produce dimensions without even knowing them.
An optional integrated electronic Rotary Table allows the machinist to produce any angled surface. The line is identified and the Display instructed to align that entity with either the X or Y axis. The Display computes the angle and communicates it to the Rotary table controller
The Cartesian Display is meant to be used with an ordinary DRO as an augmentation to the DRO. The two components are unaware of each other, they simply share the same scale signals. The Cartesian Display can also be used stand-alone; also the machinist may continue using the DRO as usual
The machinist may pan and zoom the image to give the best view of the machining action
The Cartesian Display contains the DXF part model. Thus it has an exact mathematical representation of the part. When an entity is put on "radar" the display updates in real-time the exact distance from the cutter to the line. When D=0, you are exactly, on that line and producing that drawing dimension.
